Menage a Trois anyone?

This past weekend, I had an opportunity to share Menage a Trois with three of my girlfriends. Now, now ... get your heads out of the gutter ... I'm talking about Menage a Trois Red Table Wine. Here is what the manufacturer says about its wine:

"Winemaker Notes - Our 2006 Ménage à Trois exposes the fresh, ripe, jam-like fruit that is the calling card of California wine. Forward, silky and soft, this delicious dalliance makes the perfect accompaniment for grilled meats or chicken. Ménage à Trois red brings together three strange bedfellows: Zinfandel, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. To add complexity and retain character, each variety was fermented separately, then blended together prior to bottling. On top we’ve got Zinfandel, a saucy tease that brings blackberry and raspberry jam to the relationship. Merlot, with its generous mouth feel and red fruits, fits perfectly in the middle. The rich flavors and firm tannins of Cabernet Sauvignon make it the ideal candidate for the bottom layer of the trio."

So you see kids, this wine gets its name from the number of grapes that are blended to make this wine. This is an inexpensive fun wine (I've found it anywhere from $8-$12 per bottle) that is fun to share. And I'll admit -- I originally bought it because of its name. But, you never know what you like until you try it, no?

(An aside: Rob and I shared Menage a Trois with my friend Evie last Christmas. Not only did we share Menage, but several other bottles of libations as well. Fortunately for Rob and me, we didn't have to work the next day. Our friend Evie couldn't say the same (and I indeed woke up wondering if she would ever speak to me again). It's suffice to say that Evie declared in an email the next day that she will never share Menage a Trois with us again .... we don't believe her...)

By all means, check out The Wine Cellar in Midlothian - behind the Sam's Club on Walmart Drive - sounds enticing, doesn't it???? But make no mistake, these guys know their stuff, especially Jeff Auman, the owner! I was introduced to Menage a Trois at one of their wine tastings and it is great - preferred it over all of the other the other offerings of that particular evening.

David and I tend to lean ABC - Anything But Chardonnay, so this is a WINNER in our estimations.

So now go check out The Wine Cellar, http://www.winecellarva.com/about.php
