Kerri and Kim's GREAT Adventure!

Weather in Virginia. It's a freaky thing. Thank god we had one of those marvelously wonderful spring days this past Sunday. With the top down on the car, I headed to James River Cellars (www.jamesrivercellars.com) to meet Kerri for the April Fool's wine festival. Four Virginia wineries were there, including Lake Anna Winery (www.lawinery.com), Coopers Vineyard (www.coopersvineyards.com), and Grayhaven (www.grayhavenwinery.com).

We had an awesome time!

Kerri and her husband Jim had just visited these same wineries the week before, so she was a wonderful tour guide for me as we did our tastings. We started with Coopers Vineyards, and enjoyed all that they had to offer. They offered a dessert wine made from Chocolate - no, I'm not making that up - called Noche. It was heaven. They also had a Sangria made from their wines - it was wonderful! We tasted wines from Grayhaven that also had a Sangria. Lake Anna had a great selection, too, as well as James River Cellars. One of the biggest treats we tasted was Gelati Celesti Ice Cream (a local Italian ice cream maker in Richmond - can't believe they don't have a website, but I didn't find one). Holy cow. It was wonderful. At the end of the tastings, Kerri and I settled for a class of the Sangria from Cooper Vineyards.

It was a great day with great company and great conversation. I am so glad we went. At the end of the day, I took home a bottle of Noche (chocolate wine - how can you leave that behind??), a Cabernet Franc from Coopers (Virginia does a great job with the Franc grape), and Totally Red, a nice red table wine from Lake Anna. Because Kerri had spent all of her money earlier in the week, she left empty handed, except for her souvenir wine glass.

Thanks, Kerri!
