Two Buck Chuck

Jeremy mentioned Charles Shaw's "Two Buck Chuck" wine sold at Trader Joe's in Northern Virginia. From what I understand (and what the linked article talks about - http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2003/06/02/eveningnews/main556620.shtml), this wine came about because local grape growers in California over produced. So instead of throwing out the grapes, they made an off-label wine with supposed high quality grapes.

Rob and I picked up a bottle of the Shiraz once, a few years ago. Our reaction to that Shiraz wasn't much different than Jeremy and Martha's reaction to eh Chardonnay -- it could have been, though, the wine was so hyped up we expected something different than what we got .. who knows. But we haven't tried anything else since, nor have we been to Trader Joe's in a while.

Anyone try Shaw's wine and like it? Tell us more!!

Kim - the Chardonnay plays to rave reviews but not the reds.... so that is why you and rob were underwelmed by the Shiraz. The 2 buck chard is really good..... I'm going to drink some pinot grigio nite tho! merry xmas girl!! LIL
